Aquatic Centre Employment Opportunities

The University of Calgary Aquatic Centre is looking for energetic, reliable and enthusiastic individuals who like to work as a team!

The UCAC employs up to 45 lifeguards/Instructors. We hire new staff in early September, January, and April.

Currently we are looking to fill:

10-15 Instructor/Lifeguard positions to start in the Fall 2010 Semesters and we are currently accepting applications for those positions. Competition closes Sept. 3rd. Interviews will be Sept 7 & 8th.
Mandatory New Staff Training is Sept. 11th, 18th or 25th.
First day of Lessons is Oct. 2nd.
Mandatory All Staff Training is Sept. 12th, 19th, or 26th.

Helpful Tips:
Resumes should include:

All Awards must be current at the time of application.

CALA, Pool Operator 1 and 2, Lifesaving Instructor, WHIMIS, TDG, and Lifesaving Examiner are all assets.

All UCAC Instructors and Lifeguards must complete specific physical requirements, such as:

A 20- metre sprint & 20 metre victim carry, under 60 seconds
10 minutes of treading water, with both wrists out of the water
20 pound brick retrieval from bottom of the deep end (16 feet)
A pulmonary assessment test
All UCAC Instructors and Lifeguards must teach 1 complete set of Saturday Red Cross lessons per year to maintain active status.
